During this time, 72 ships were waiting to continue their journey on the Saar and Moselle. The closure posed major challenges for shipping and the economy, but also provided an opportunity to review the infrastructure and initiate long-term improvements. In order to repair the lock as quickly as possible, the Mosel-Saar-Lahn Waterways and Shipping Authority (WSA) issued a request with a specified time frame. We were awarded the contract and were able to demonstrate our expertise and flexibility.
“It was a challenging situation that required a quick response. Thanks to our flexible way of working and the close cooperation between the Konz branch and the industrial assembly department, we were able to carry out the repair within a very short time,” explains Patrick Jochum, service technician at HANSA‑FLEX.
The task was to fit the hydraulic drive of the new lock gate with hose lines. “Coordination and precision during implementation were crucial. We had to ensure that everything worked smoothly so that the lock could be put back into operation quickly,” continued Jochum.
Thanks to swift implementation, HANSA‑FLEX was able to complete the repair work within a short period of time and thus contribute to the rapid reopening of the waterway. The collaboration illustrates the importance of efficient industrial services for a reliable infrastructure.
