At GKN's Kaiserslautern site, around 400 employees produce propeller shafts with constant velocity joints over an area of more than 20,000 m². Much of the automated part processing machinery is hydraulically driven, including grinding, turning and milling systems. GKN also uses hydraulics for hardening and painting systems, as well as for clamping tool chucks or loading and unloading part carriers. The wide range of hydraulic applications covers a total of 171 machines. "We realised that in addition to our action plan, which contains hazard categories and inspection intervals for the machines, and our overview plan with the machine layout, we also needed a solution for managing the individual hose lines," explains Andreas Hundt from GKN's Technical Service. GKN found what it was looking for at HANSA‑FLEX - the Kaiserslautern branch is just a few metres from the factory premises.
